Hi, I am not exactly sure if your fears are unfounded but i believe that making power saving adjustments isn't very healthy for the system in certain cases. I have heard about undervolting the processor and similar adjustments made particularly in laptops.These are surely not nice for the system.

No I don't think so,you see there is a power saving mode called sleep mode right? I tried testing it. I would got to sleep mode, the fan stopped, the HDD stopped, The computer behaved as if it were switched off. But when I moved the mouse it started again pretty fast. I did two three times and on t

Hi, @BINNY Looks like a serious problem you have there. But I don't really see how GNU/Linux could have caused that. I have used sleep/suspend mode several times on my 2 systems without ever having any problems. And as someone mentioned, I couldn't find on the net -any reports of such failures.

Hi, That was a really informative and well laid out post :) And yes. I never meant that ubuntu does damage by using default management options.Its just that the net has got lots of power management tweaks that just might turn out to be unhealthy.But it also turns out the tweaks are also labelled

Well about the stabilizer, its actually a manual stabilizer not the automatic ones. When the voltage drops my UPS starts beeping as though the power had gone off and many a time I had to switch off the PC. Hi, @ BINNY You should avoid the use of stabilizer. UPS is good enough. Check your main supply- the live voltage and the earthing. You can ask someone who knows how to operate a multimeter. Watch out for any anomaly with UPS. Examining and repairing UPS will require specialized equipment an
