this problem, you should
create a shared library out of the libXv archives. Try the following:
ravana:~# ld --whole-archive -shared -o libXv.so.1 libXv.a
ravana:~# ln -s libXv.so.1 libXv.so
ravana:~# ldconfig
Should solve the dependency.

new install you had done. Querying it is meaningless. Hence you didn't get
any result. But its installed OK. You only have to give the proper links to
the library files directory.

That is a bug in usage of zlib. rsync 2.5.6 released in May this year has
a bug because of which rsync with -z fails. Check the thread for details :

the .xinitrc file HAS to be an executable
script. You can't run it if it isn't. It may be in any language,
though people use simple shell scripts. It isn't any simple file
containing app names. Xsession checks if the +x bit is set before
running the script. It doesn't try to guess wh

Hi,
if you are using KDE, use the ~/.kde/Autostart folder. Put the
script or a link to it and it should start after X loads.
In GNOME, use ~/.Xclients-default to load your programs.
If you use some other window manager, put something like this in
your .xinitrc file:
