I already did. I read somewhere about support for only three versions
back. The 7zip was installed already.

Hi Lukasz,
there are couple of issues tracked which currently prevent Solaris
from being successfully installed when there is Linux swap primary
partition defined along with Solaris one on the same disk. Please see
release notes for details and possible workarounds:

You should install the s10u5 packages back. Also need to install the
following p7zip and cpio patch and try again:

It is possible to live upgrade from s10u3 to s10u5 with non-global
zones. YOu need to install the list of patches documentated in infodoc

In addition, you also need the following patches for p7zip and cpio as well:

Upgrading my S10u3 to S10u5 does not work at the moment. I don't get
an upgrade option. I have asked more information on the conditions on
install-discuss at opensolaris.
However, I'm just thinking, maybe solaris Live Upgrade can be fooled?

This is about upgrading S10u3 to S10u5.
Does anybody know the conditions where the *upgrade* option is not
offered by the install DVD?
Checked diskspace. It's a normal layout.

Ok I downloaded from Blastwave and I've had no problems installing on the
laptop. Totally weird problem.

What exactly do you consider screwed up? I've
probably done 50 installs of various incarnations
of OpenSolaris 2008.05 and the preceding release
candidates. Very few failed, and of those that did,
they were issues with the release candidates that
were addressed before release.
Perhaps you might f

Did it leave a log file in /var/tmp? Does "find /var/sadm -mtime -5"
show any interesting log files?

Please see my post directly under this one. I used 2 different sets of media
and actually had the live cd boot fine off a Dell Precision T3400.
The problem on the laptop had to do with the crypto-subsystem dying and then it
hangs. My previous post has all the error messages.

Hello,
I just back from JavaOne where I got OpenSolaris 2008.05 LiveCd ;)
During my trip I tried to install it on my laptop.
I had 10GB partition for playing with OpenSolaris, so I switch its type to
LinuxSwap/Solaris and tried to install. Unfortunately installation was broken
about 77% with me
This sucks, why is this install so screwed up? I doubt it's me I currently run
sxde (which is far better in my opinion.) Why the super high memory
requirements? I've tried installing a 3 computers now all has failed. 2 didn't
have the memory requirements and failed at 84% OK that's understandabl
