So, two tracks: demo the tech capabilities of Jboss with
demos, and make it sharp for the business folks that need convincing.
Thoughts?

This sounds like a good idea except for one immediate problem:
integration.
Any components would have to be developed as a suite (including the data
model) as it is not usually possible to integrate Order A with Product B
if they are not compatible. Of course you could use the facade design

The entity engine is for managing data definitions, not entities
as in EJBs. I think they have a generic entity (DTO) and define
the contents/tables using XML.

I was talking about *FREE* components.

It is an excellent idea.
There are already a plenty of OSS EJBs available out there.
It would be better if we just prepare a comprehensive list of all freely
available EJBs for respective domains and host the list somewhere. For those
EJBs (source) which do not have a place to host on the web w

If not one can extend such a component with minimal
effort (I think of CMP components...)

Is this possible? Is it even a good idea?
I agree in the sense that any free
Does anyone have any experience with that forum? - Looks interesting.

This just what I talked about, to centralize the
development of such components, I
A good idea!
And for my contribution to the possible domains, how about the OSS/J
initiative?

I think it will. First, it increases the awareness of Open Source.
Second, it will be best tested on JBoss. Third, when businesses are

There are a number of them out there, why start another?
Two that spring to mind are ofbiz (Open For Business) and Open Symphony.
I've never used either of them so I don't know what their quality is
