Arie, question for you: I see the two polyhedra models in the PDF file.
But I can't figure out what is going on with the rotation. How is it

Yes for sure; it would be nice if we could verify the intermediate

Arie I have installed Deep View from Right Hemisphere, and it opens
U3D files. (I think you need the Complete version, it is free.)
OK, I'm in! I have MikTex working and I'm looking at my first PDF document.
Here was my sequence. Needs refinement, of course!

So POV-Ray output uses screen coordinates, while VRML output uses 3d
coordinates in the model's axes system. That's the difference between
both types of exporters as I see it.
Yes, that's it. I wasn't imagining that people would go in and tweak

Arie,
I've checked in code for Jmol 12.0.RC26 that:
1) creates .idtf.tex along with .idtf
2) gets the orientation correct
3) gets the scale correct
4) rotates the model around the correct center
The result is that if you have not rotated the model, or if the model center
is also the

OK. Just for reference, here are the issues:
-- In Jmol the center of window (mouse) rotation is not necessarily the
point {0 0 0} nor is it necessarily the center of the model.
-- In Jmol the center of rotation may not be positioned directly in front of
the user, at the window center. It may be

AH-HAH! That's what I've been looking for. How do these values for 3D
parameters relate to our perspective in Jmol? We can have Jmol write
this file if you can explain it.

Well, we're in good company. I admit to not knowing anything about
perspective and motion in U3D. the motion frame stuff there is just an early
attempt I had at trying to get this to work. I think the IDTF converter is
buggy in this regard -- I certainly could never get it to work properly. I'm
