Hi,
I've got a network of two MS Win computers sitting behind a Leaf Bering
firewall running on a p133.
The Bering box shares my internet connection (previously Cable, currently
serial modem, hopefully soon ADSL) to the other two computers. This it does
flawlessly.
My problem is that I'm too ch
Hi again,
I'm using a Bering RC3 system and if I try to create more than one outgoing
ftp connection I get the following message:
Jun 24 16:50:46 firewall kernel: ip_conntrack: max number of expected
connections 1 of ftp reached for 192.168.1.11->193.41.x.x, reusing
Is there a way of increasing
I have a machine with Bering running off a floppy, which is running SETI.
The contents of the seti folder are copied to HD every hour.
Linux has a tool called HDParam (not installed in Bering :( or just set the
time out in the bios to 1 minute. (as i have)

Hi,
To run LRP in vmware, just split the 1680 floppy into two 1440 floppies. winimage will
do most of the work for you but you will need a linux box to syslinux the new 1440
disk. ( or as I have, a ZipSlack running in VMWare :)
Dont forget to update your syslinux.cfg to remove 1680 and to add
Hi,
The seti package I'm using is from:
http://lrp.gibbsoft.com/lrps/seti-v3_03.lrp
the home page is at:
http://lrp.gibbsoft.com/
You need a reasnonable amount of ram as you'll probably have to increase the
size of your ram-disk and seti also uses ram.
add the following to your syslinux.cfg
Hi,
We're getting a little off-topic here, but the answer to your question is
no. You can run two independant seti's which will have the same effect i.e.
twice the number of Work Units in the same amount of time vs. one WU in half
the amount of time :0)

Weird one here.
My Bering RC3 box has just started behaving very odd when it brings up the
ppp link (serial modem).
The after the modem wailing finishes there used to be about a seconds' worth
of data and then the link would be live. Now I have to wait around 30secs
while the modem sporadically
How much ram is in the machine?

Yea, I managed ok with RC1 but when I upgraded to RC3 I could never get it
to work again.
I might have another go sometime this week. Or I might just try to DNAT the
request on to my NT4 machine. Although saying that, that's somthing else I
had trouble with when I moved to RC3 - DNATing port 80 t

I'm fairly sure you need a null-modem cable to switch the RX/TX lines.

Yup, I followed those instructions to a T as, I imagine, did stefan. It's
been a couple of weeks since I tried it now. All I remember is that every
thing seemed ok, ecxept that NT claimed it couldn't connect.

If you really wanted to use a usb key, you could boot from a floppy
(syslinux, copy syslinux.cfg, vmlinuz, initrd.lrp) and have the rest of the
packages on the key. You would need to put the usb storage module (if indeed
this is the right module) in initrd.lrp and also have a usb port available
on
You'll also need the general usb modules:
usbcore.o
.. and ..
usb-uhci.o
.. or ..
usb-ohci.o

If the ppp0 interface is down it will not resolve an address. Is this
normal?
Is there a way to change this?
