Hello All,
Other than needing to acquire a longer lead screw, what is there
preventing someone from using two 900s to make a 8 foot system? I
believe the carriage would still be able to ride through from one
frame to the other. Clearly one would have to place both systems on a
common platform
Hi Craig
Nice to meet a fellow sufferer. I have a 7519 fixed speed which works
fine but I a not happy using larger bits in it. I have also just
tried a 7518 but there seems to be a possible problem with the speed
controller. As the only suppliers of Porter Cable seem to be in the
USA it is not
Hi guys
Let me just correct one small item, Legacy are not out of the large or
small ornamental mill market. They have had to do what any sane
business person would do in a business down turn, they have looked at
their market and consolidated the product range. The fact is
consumers are not
Begat,
I have an earlier version of the OM that was nearly eight feet long. Someday
I'll cut it down in length. Anyway, you'll find that the rails will sag
quite a bit making it impossible to mill an even cylinder. I fixed this by
creating a simple frame to apply upward pressure along the rails.
Hello Grant,
Thanks. I'll chase down the pictures. I do recall seeing it before.

Hi roger
the revo in my opinion was the machine for entry level under $1000 it was a
great little machine all it needed to make it even better
is lengthen the rails by a foot and the machining dia by 2 inches that way
it can cut 8inches dia instead of 6 and 4 foot long instead if 3
even if you
Hello Roger,
It's good to know the legacy's still interested in the manual market on
both the large and the small end. Yet, as I tell me friends on Wall
Street, in the long run the market may correct itself, but God has put me
on earth only for the short run, and He expects me to tend to my
Hey Mike,
Hope you get something sorted soon, and again I know your pain regarding Porter
Cable tools/parts - nightmare. Surfing has told that if I need anything like
that I may just have to bite the bullet and ship from the States - the bummer
is the tax bill that follows - and we both know
Hello Begat
I try not to blame Legacy or its people . I try to see both sides of the story
before making my mind .
It looks to me like Legacy is wielding a double edged sword in most cases Here.
they opened the world to OM turning clearing a way for others to follow,But on

Hello All,
Followed up on the posting on the threaded rod that Tim made yesterday
and found that standard sizes for the lead screws that the company
makes are six and twelve feet and that the price would be in the
neighborhood of $5.00 per foot!!
It dawns on me that there would be limitations in
The 9 limit is because of the amount of travel in the legs, not the
distance between the inner rails. You can go up to 11.5 if you can lower
the bed further. That requires milling the slots in the legs an additional
amount. You also have to raise the machine above your table if it is a
bench
Tim,
I am trying to put everything into perspective. Having a custom threaded
rod made to eight plus or ten feet is probably not that expensive either.
And buying four eight foot or ten foot long rails from legacy will cost a
pretty penny but only slightly more than a second 900. What sounds
