Thanks for the welcome, folks! I'll get some pictures up soon, but I have
been searching the net at various places, and have figured out how to make
my own split nuts. I need the one (both parts) for the long lead screw.
Interestingly enough, the broken parts I have don't fit. If I put the nut

What do you mean by no z-axis mechanism? Are you missing the whole
carriage? The router plate?

Good morning Steve.
Legacy still sells the split nut. I'm sure you could buy one form them. If
not? perhaps one of our members here could help you out on this problem?
Steve If you could post some pictures of your machine, then Perhaps we could
help.(they say a picture is worth 1000 words.)
The split nut base for the x and y axis are different for the 900. If the
previous owner sourced the parts from a model 1000, they are also different.
Did you call legacy and ask for the split nut components?

Hello Steve,I welcomed you to the group earlier (12Jan) - glad to see you are getting responses from some of the more "experienced" members.I have a paper copy of the manual for the Model 900. It has lots of pages. I will gladly make youcopies of pages (and mail them) that address particular
Yes, I asked awhile back, earlier this month. How do you want to deliver
it? Email is probably the easiest.
Thanks,

As far as I know, no plans are available for sale. Call Legacy and ask and get
back to us :-). I know there are no videos available anymore.

You do not have the z-axis upgrade. However I notice that you have the longer

Steve,
Noticed a couple other things. The shaft collars go on the lead screws. One
on each slide of the split nut. There should be 4 total. You have the updated
headstock which means there are bearings in the headsock instead of Delrin
bushings. You have the additional direction gear. I
Hi Tim,
Heh, heh, I got the thing with the carriage assembled like that. I never
noticed that in the few pictures I've managed to find online. That I can
fix. That will make the split nut I have line up, but won't fix the broken
part. I notice that the stand also doesn't have the leveling

Hello Steve
If You look in that box of second hand parts, you will find your split nut and
steel attachment plate for it (Im looking at photo 900-2, in the right lower
corner there is a black plastic split nut with a screw lock down knob on it. in
the upper top left, you will see the U shaped

Ok my manual is gone it should be coming to you now just follow it and you will
know what’s missing and if its all assembled properly that’s easier than us
trying to explain that way you can ask specific questions about specific parts

If you have not figured it out yet, the left and right hand gears control the
direction of the spiral. I think what curt is seeing in the corner of the box
is just a face plate, not a legacy component. The tools are all standard allen
wrenches. The manual should answer a lot of questions.
Pretty funny, I was trying to figure out what Tim meant, and after getting
the manual, I realized that the carriage rides *in* the rail slot, not on
top! I've got it installed properly, now. The previous owner appears to
never have finished assembling it. So the question about gravity holding
I don’t believe glue alone would hold a broken delrin split nut to together you
would defiantly need some sort of screws or bolts as well post a picture of the
pieces of it and we can come up with a way of fixing it
