I did a conversion to CNC on a legacy 1200 with steppers. I have nema23
387oz. steppers and a 6:1 gear reduction on the Z and rotary axis, and a
straight coupling on the X and Y. The setup is adequate on X,Y and Z, but

Grainge stopped making the speed control in 2005. The DC motor we used ended in
2008.
I recommended a Dzc motor with a 5/8 shaft. But you may have forgotten that.
The speed control you will need to fit the motor.

control switch and override switch in a box, all should be availa
motor supplier back in the day when
