It seems to me that you have three options:
1. Reduce the font size
2. Get a larger monitor
3. Shorten the last name

For those of us not that well versed in these procedures how do you

I beg to differ. About a year ago I missed deleting 1 email from someone I

As I said in my message, if a person has a reputable virus/spam software,
these things won't normally get through. However, it must be kept updated.
I know there are some good free ones, but in this case I believe that you
get what you pay for. I have used Norton and McAfee but prefer Norton.

I have Norton Anti Virus running on my computer all the time and it is
updated every time there is an update available. I also run a firewall.
Worms in HTML do not always get picked up by the Anti virus software, even
big corporations have been hit with nasty code carried in messages
Well since Ron entered the thread, I will too. grin
There are many ways one can get infected on the internet. Having an updated
virus checker, spyware checker and firewall are essential components of
computing today.
As for email spam and bad stuff, there are many ways to deal with it. Here

Jennifer,
Your are correct. It is not possible to access the Family View nor the Pedigree

However, why would one wish to? All the relationships, events etc are available
either from the indivuals details on the Search Page or via the varous tabs on
Jeff,
I too use Mail Washer, but the Free version which doesn't have all your bells

For my main mail I also use Outlook Express and have it set to plain text and
use Adaware and Spybot.
Anyhow I guess I'm getting way off topic for LUG, so I'll shut up, but
hopefully we may have
Ron,
Respectfully, if someone thinks Norton takes over, then they are not
familiar enough with it to properly install and configure it to his/her
machine. The only time Norton has a bad reputation is when people don't
know how to properly use it!

These worms are usually in the attachments which most people are aware or
should be aware that you never open an unexpected attachment even if it
appears to be from someone you know.

I agree. And Norton/Symantec products are widely available for free (after
rebates, etc). Just watch your Sunday newspaper (at least, here in the
States.)

Mike,
I do not understand what you are saying. Obviously the right hand column
cannot be edited because that is on the IGi.
On the left hand side there are 5 tabs labelled, Individual, Family, Parents,
Events, and Notes.
At the bottom left there is an Edited Left button which allows all of
Let me give an example, as it is difficult to explain what I mean.
Let's say I go to the IGI database search page and click View Matches and
then go to the Parents tab in the Possible Matches window. I have the
option to click on Edit Left or Update Legacy Parents at the bottom. If

Maybe you could explain where it is that it is being cut off, since
you mentioned PDF files. Presumably it shows find on the Individual
and Family Views, and it is a report you are asking about. I would
like to try to duplicate it for you.

Do you mean being used by the IGI or by you?

Jennifer,
Firstly, in no way are you causing trouble this is exactly the sort of
question that LUG is about. (Not to mention that I enjoy convoluted problems!)
You are quite correct regarding the example which you give below but I do have
difficulty in imagining a situation whereby I would

So long as the files are backup up on the floppies, just put the

have to navigate to the floppy drive to see the files you need to

Hi Beth,
If you swap the Alt name with the Main Name, (see button on the Alt
name screen) the source citations should go with the names.
If you want the 1900 Census as source to both the Main Name and the
Alt Name, then open the Assigned Sources (click the books icon on
Family View), highlight
