Toxanne, No there isn't. But I wouldn't bother because (a) you would loose definition by doing so as neither the gif nor the jpg are lossless and (b) if the definition is poor it will not improve it. It can be done using a variety of software of which Irfan View is just one. Ron Ferguson

Anne, The zip file will normally contain the path to the pictures starting at the Root which is usually the C:/ directory. So by using the extraction wizard and extracting it to the C:/ the pictures will end up in the same directory structure that was on the old computer (ie c:/legacy/pictures/

Remove the gedcom from your HOME file. Create a new file (Temp) with the Gedcom. Fix the Temp at whatever pace you have. For that size it might take a few months. Find a couple with two identical marriages. Unlink the 'dup' if obvious. The higher MRIN is probably the culprit. I had this. When you unlink it saves all the other sruff. Deleteing ERASES stuff.
