You have to be careful though. If you edit the source detail in one place (even just correct a typo or add a space) it becomes a new source detail and will print both ways in reports. Any change to the citation detail has to be applied to every instance of that particular citation. I need

IMHO, NEVER use the same name. It MAY copy on top of the old one, and 'erase by default' your old data. I don't know if this will help you or not, but there are bookmarks in the SourceWriter so if there are a few templates you use regularly you can bookmark them so you select the correct one in the future rather than scrolling through your choices (it is mentioned in the manual at pages 58-59).

When you want to source an event, call up the source you want (like 1920 census) and select it to be the source. Then when you call up the event, you can select the source with the little button with the horizontal line. I would suggest doing all the things using the same source at one time -
