Obviously you do care or you would not have responded. By responding, you
help to clutter up the list.
My advice, not that you asked, ignore comments you don't like and you won't
exacerbate the problem.

There are two choices for location names. 1. The name of the place at that
time, or 2. the current name for everyplace. For both American and European
locations I have as many as five names for the same place, over different
times. The location notes explain the details. Choice 2 means each time

I messed up the family search.org search. I was trying to change it

Can someone give me the correct string for Family search labs?

I was wondering about entering locations such as,
Kingdom of Saxony, Germany
and
Kingdom of Bohemia, which stood on its own until it changed hand to
Austria, but still referred to as a kingdom and then when it was
changed to eventually Bohemia, Czechoslovakia.
On that would you list: Kingdom of Bo

I file my marriage records in a binder under the husband's name. I've

Hello Connie
I picked up that you file alphabetically, how would you file a married couple
I can see that all unmarried people could be done by alphabet but I just
wondered do you file the husband and wife separately

Syble,
Since you have already used my suggestion as to what might be the problem, it
is necessary to look further. I have created Pedigree web pages using your
formatting set up and it worked OK. So, the problem is not with the Web Page
Creation function per se.

I haven't read much of the other replies. The thing I find most
useful is the "Home Person". This can be set on both Ancestry.Com or
Legacy Family Tree (where it's actually Home Family). This just gives
me a "known" location to get back to for navigation.
Take care,

I use GenSmarts. I am a relative newbie at genealogy so that may be
part of it. I find that GenSmarts helps me look at things from a
different perspective. I also find that it alerts me to sources that

Kaled,
Sorry, the example I gave should have read "England, Lancashire, Salford,
Eccles, Winton". Also many locations would not have a city which is used in the
4 field convention - and I hate multiple commas in locations! "Country, County,
Parish" is very common in earlier centuries.

Kaled,
Is any software perfect out of the box? :-0.
The best peiece of advice I would give you is that when entering locations
ignore the 4 field naming convention - they are not suitable for the UK (and
much of Europe). Enter in the Location Field what you believe to be the correct

I know all about that. That is where my computer stopped responding at 7%

the whole program. All I want is the update. That is what I ask for. Can the
update be downloaded without downloading the whole program?
