To my best recollection my settings have never changed themselves, but I have
made bad keystrokes, and had to fix or re-do stuff.

I sort of forgot how I did it, But about 3 years ago I added Swedish as an

Did anyone ever come up with an answer to this? I have checked the archives
but cannot see one.
My problem is similar and may well be connected.
I run the latest build of Legacy 7 on both my desktop and laptop (which I
use when visiting the archives etc.)
Using the same family file L7 works
You can get the special characters for your language and store up to 8 in the
special bar on most input screens, the one on the main is to the left of the

German locations all use special characters, I know once you

You do not say which o/s, if you are using Vista then the update Jet-pack bit
should not apply. If you go to the Legacy Home Tab (in your program) at the top

Thanks to all who replied to my original question with respect to Legacy

There is, however, still a problem. It occurred to me that I could download the

Michelle,
Sorry I can't answer your question, but I'm laughing out loud about
the fact that an ox pops up telling you to add a space between
initials in a first name. I just have a vision of an ox mooing at you

I am glad I could help, but I do not use 'Charting' at present. You might
create a new file with 'French' only and open LC with that, but it may be an
unthought of idea, which becomes a bug?

That's been passed on to the programmers - it's only missing from the source
windows but is still available in Notes.
In the meantime, you can copy to Notepad and then copy from Notepad into
Legacy.
Thanks for using Legacy.

Another place to delete files is in the LegacyUG emails. Since they are
available at the Archives, there's little reason for most people to keep

Note that you can color code a selected person's grandparent lines, so
you're watching (for example) blue for your paternal grandfather, pink for
paternal grandmother, etc.
This is much easier to follow than trying to mentally sort multiple lines

Every couple of days I delete Deleted Items.dbx

If your laptop is that full then you need to attack the things that take up
large amounts of space, not a few piddly Legacy files that are often a few
KB. Here are a few things you can do that will have a much bigger effect.
Run the Disk Cleanup utility and let it compact files. There are a
