Greetings all,
I have been working with exporting Gedcoms of late and I have examined
the Help file regarding Gedcom tags. I have been unable to find what
I am looking for. I am wanting to match (map) the Gedcom V5.5 tags to
where they are found in Legacy.
Many instances are obvious such as, B

I would have thought NATU would be an indication if a child was
Natural or not, but even though I do have plenty of Natural
relationships in my database, I don't have that code in my GEDCOM or
LEGACY export file.
None of those four codes appear in my export file. ASSO seems like a

IMHO, based on what you said ASSO is, Legacy does not
have a parallel name. Legacy does not have an
illegitimate tag, because "that is the parents
fault?", not the kids. That title matters more to
church and legal groups. If you export to Legacy
including those tags, they will be created as tags in

Hi Rich,
I'm not sure if you are talking about the NATU tag when you mentioned
illegitimate or if you were referring to LEGA, but I think NATU is
what you are referring to. There was a thread I commented on a few
months ago where I mentioned all of the people in my GEDCOM were
imported with the ch
Debbie,
Stuart wanted to know the Legacy equivalents of these tags. He seemed
to know what they were in GEDCOM format. I think the programmers will
have to answer, if no one else has studied them and can comment on
their findings.

Susan,
Did you look at the page Debbie sent? It explains what the tags mean

information from the programmers.
It's clear that 3 of them in Legacy are possible Events

MARL - Marriage Licence
LEGA - Legatee of will
Geetings again all,
Susan, you are right. I am aware of all the Gedcom tags and I wasn't
expecting an answer on what the tags should contain. My question is,
has anyone mapped, that is taken all of the Gedcom V5.5 Standard tags
and linked them to the appropriate data entry point in Legacy. I
G'day Cathy,
Firstly, I greatly appreciate your contributions to this list. You are
truly one of the most helpful members and usually are spot-on with
your replies. This is one of the reasons that I may not be seeing the
wood for the trees in respect to your reply.

Hi Stuart,
If they're not in the Event list, make them.
You can make them during the Gedcom import.
Start the import and then click Customise.
On the Items to Import screen that comes up - read the Help page
under the Help button.
This tells you how to use:

Cathy,
Thank you for your quick reply. My OP clearly sought assistance with
exporting to Gedcom V5.5, not importing. Since your reply, I have
checked again the tags available for export using the Legacy setting
for V5.5. None of these tags, and these are only examples of many,
are not included
Sorry Stuart,
You'll have to ask someone else.
I know very little about Gedcom and currently little interest in them.
I assumed since you had various tags, you had the Gedcom.
If you are trying to make a Gedcom, I have no idea.
I don't quite understand making a Gedcom with information you haven'

I have created many Events, and to my knowledge they
have transferred with just the similar creation on the
import side, by the recipient.

I just created a small Gedcom. My created tag is shown

Greetings again to all,
Cathy, there is no need for you to be sorry. You have helped me and
others many times. Thank you again for your contribution.
Elizabeth, my destination for the Gedcoms I produce is the PhpGedView
program which I use on my web site. Although it will read all Gedcoms
it
remember Gedcom, and especially 5.5 is a program
created by committee. They did a good job, but I don't
know if there is even a plan to update the current
version. I don't edit them now. I just wanted to show
how my custom tags come out in G55. Many programs
allegedly accept some of them and a few
