I would also recommend VMWare to run Windows on a Mac and Legacy on the
Windows side.
Works very well for me.

The problem you are having is you are sharing folders between the Mac and
Windows. I would recommend you turn off that feature in Parallels and keep
the Windows & Mac filing systems separate. It really becomes an issue for
Legacy to find the pictures on the Mac side if you share the filin
I am a rank rookie Legacy user and have pretty much the same setup you have. I
played with mine and assigned a photo to my father that was in my Mac home

Crossover will only with with Legacy v7.5 - not with v8. The
programmers have been talking with the Crossover developers, but I
don't know what the status is.
Legacy will run on a Mac with Parallels, Fusion, Bootcamp or
VirtualBox along with Windows.

Hi Mary,
I too am a MAC user.
I have VMware Fusion instead of Cross Over to enable using Legacy. This works
very well with nothing “garbled” when I add data.
I have found that in order to “copy and paste” from a source online into
Legacy, I cannot do that from inside Legacy. I use Google Chr
Larry, thank you for your suggestions.
I am using MacBook Pro, OS is 10.10.2. I am using CrossOver downloaded app,
with Legacy 7.5. Perhaps this will be more helpful!

I have had my Mac exactly one month today therefore have almost nil
experience with either the hardware or software involved. For myself and
others to attempt what you report it would be most beneficial to know what
versions of OS, Crosstalk and Legacy you are using since any or all of

Be careful running Legacy 7.5 with Crossover, I've found if you edit any

If you get Crossover XI, you don't need to run Windows. I've heard
great things about the program.
Codeweavers even has instructions on installing Legacy under Crossover!

We tried running Legacy on a Mac via Bootcamp but ended up switching to a PC
running Windows. Yes it is doable but I think Parallels is better. Be sure
that there is a version of Parallels that works with your Mac's operating
system.

Marie - I've been running Parallels (Versions 6 through 8) for several years
and it works just fine. I tried Bootcamp and it is a good program, but the
restarting issue is a drawback for me. Unless it has changed within the past
couple of years, Bootcamp requires a restart to get to the system

You don't have to do that, you can load Parallels or similar and then install
any Windows type program.
I suggest you have a look at this website to get an idea of how to go about it.

You will have to install a Windows operating systems on the Mac - Yes that
will cost you upwards of $200 (Windows 7 Home Premium for example).
Bootcamp is free which allows you to install Windows and run windows
programs. Paralles & Fusion cost $80.
