Afternoon,
I am not all that experienced with Linux, and I haven't worked with it for a
while, and I have proceeded to shot myself in the foot. Maybe both feet.

David,
When Management will let you play with a linux POC type of thing, but will
*not* fund z/VM, regardless of the advantages of having it.
Maybe if/when we put Linux on z-Series into production I can get them to fund
z/VM. It has been discussed. The advantages and benefits have been exp

Do you have a support contract with Novell for SLES on z? If so, please open

Afternoon all,
I recently installed SLES 10 SP 2. I am running in an LPAR (no, no z/VM...).
I have two OSA-Express cards that are shared with other LPARs. Both work, but
not at the same time. It seems to be either one or the other.
On a previous install of SLES 9 SP 3 on a 9672, I was
We run CRAM jobs here, now, all the time.
In our case, it stand for Cross Region Access Method (Model 204, anyone?).

perform some further checking, another file that yast is
creating would be
/etc/sysconfig/network/ifconfig-qeth-bus-ccw-0.0.0530. When you cat
that file, you see most of the other definitions that you put inside of
yast.

Morning all,
Yesterday I completed a new install of SLES 10 SP 2 into an LPAR. During the
install, I defined one OSA-Express port, and it appears to be working fine.
However, I have several networking related nuisances and questions.
1) How do you define a second OSA-Express port? I tried

Thanks Mark,
Where can I find the Release Notes for SLES10 GA? I found them for SP2, and
then for SP 1, but I can't seem to locate the GA Release Notes anywhere.
I had a little fun getting the install system to 'talk' to my FTP Server, and
then the proper directory, but I worked it out. I'm

David,
I know I can get a 'loaner' of z/VM. But my z/VM skills are quite old, very
rusty, and I was never a (z/)VM Sysprog, anyway. I'm a (z/)VSE Sysprog! I
know, there are 'cookbooks' (I have them). And while I wouldn't mind a z/VM
trial, I wouldn't want it to go away in a few months, and
Morning all,
I am preparing to do a new 'bare-metal' (i.e. LPAR) install of Suse 10 SP 2.
No, no z/VM, no IFL. (Maybe if I'm good, Santa will ...)
I installed SLES 9 SP 3 at one time, with considerable assistance from a Novell
engineer (Thanks Mike!), so I have done this once before. But
And what about USB support?
I haven't seen any USB ports on my 9672, and I don't think my (arriving soon)
z9 has any, either. Maybe on the HMC?

John,
Close. C is #2 on the list. As of this morning, COBOL is 18th. Pascal has
taken over 15th. Javascript is considered separately, and is #11.
