Doug,
1) The initrd_kit is most of the stuff I use to build a kernel package.
I made it available
for download, so that #1, people could see how I did it. and #2,
they could build their
own kernels.
2) Option-128 is a vendor ID tag. The value 'e4:45:74:68:00:00' is a
special value
First off, thanks Jim for all the time and effort that has gone into
2.09prerelease.
I have installed it on a test machine and was able to get workstation to
boot fine. I like the one kernel approach.
The server I used is a RedHat 7.1, running KDE2.2. All our workstations are

Clayton,
It's failing for a simple reason.
WHen I built the kernel, I left out the natsemi driver. (oops!).
I'm building a new kernel, and it will have the natsemi driver included.
I'll make it available on the download page later tonight.
Sorry, and thanks,

Thanks for that Jim.
I have just installed the latest kernel packages 2.09pre2-5.
Now I am getting to this point. I think the fundamental problem is the
No such file or directory which is staring me in the face. The root
directory has to be mounting or else it would not be running the linuxr
Hi folks!
I installed LTSP v2.08 (not for the first time, i have already two systems
running for about 1 year!)
I know this is more an etherboot than a ltsp-problem, but the 2 projects
are so close one to each other, that maybe someone of you has a clue...
This time i got some "old" european I

Hi JT,
Yes, I understand this now - I just jumped to the wrong conclusion is all...

I can't believe how much this project has matured in the year that I've been
using it.
Thanks Jim! (and everyone else who has contributed)

HEy Jim,
Great work you are doing!
One question though (I'm getting ready to spend a couple of days playing
with the new 2.09)...
I know you said you were working on updating the new docs, but is there a
quick'n dirty on the differences? It appears that there is only one w/s
kernel now?
Thank
I have a working network bootable setup using bootp and tftpd on a Debian box
and everything is working just fine (3com 3c509 with LanWorks). Unfortunately
my customer wants the server to run Redhat 7.1 and no bootp RPM is available.
So I installed 7.1 on a box and downloaded the tftpd and dhcp

The reason for dropping the LTSP Enh. with LDAP has nothing to do with
authentication. The LDAP in the Enh. is for configuration of each
individual machine. LDAP has become a chore and especially when they
change the standard. We also think there are better ways to do
configuration using
