That is a good question. I don't know the answer.
On the server all 3 accounts have the top bottom panels. On the thin
client one account is missing the top bottom panels.
I don't know enough about the nuts and bolts of LTSP to even guess at an

I understand the reasons for mounting the root filesystem read-only but
i
wnat to install certain sound apps to run locally for reliabilty (voice
recognition) and I need to know how I install software such as OSS
sound
system. I can't simply copy the files to the client
kernel specific. can I make the root file system read write for this
purpose somehow?

I removed the contents of
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf,
I just run that install script I got rmedia' file
in /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/rc.d/ directory and
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 -../ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/cd
file is created locally..
