Did you find a solution to this? I'm having similar issues with
Etherboot cards on 10.04. My Etherboot clients won't boot, but the
error is different. I never see the dots or the done, but a repeated
error:
error: not a tagged image
Unable to load file.

Interestingly, I just tried a newer etherboot nic, with Bootrom v. 1.8
and Etherboot/32 v. 5.0.10, and I have the same problem as Karl. The
dots going by, done, and then nothing.

AFAIK they are not. netboot uses drivers from the NIC manufacturers
while etherboot have their own NIC drivers. AFAIK netboot thus
supports more NICS

The message about 16 ram disks is nothing to worrry about. It doesn't
actually allocate any ram at that point. it only creates a small
structure in memory to allow you to create ramdisks if you want to.
