Joseph,
The first thing I'd look for is the cards PCI Vendor and Device ID.
if you can put the card in a machine and boot linux from a harddisk,
then run: lspci -n
Look for the lines that say 'Class 0200'. Those are the network cards.
See if you get the proper 10ec:8139 value.

Are you sure that you saved the rom image from rom-0-matic as a binary
rom image (.lzrom) and not .lzdsk? The 27c256 is a good eprom for the
8139, so no problem there. Also, when you program the eprom are you
using the correct device driver for your particular brand of 27c256?

So just to be clear, you are able to use a rtl8139D based NIC with
Etherboot?
Although I have used Etherboot in the past, my more recent experience lies
with burning PXE ROMs. I am afraid I have deleted the earlier messages in
the thread but IIRC, the symptoms that were described (i.e. no menu
I actually compiled kernel 2.6.0test2 last night to see if I can
contribute to the testing process (so far it is not quite running like I
want it yet, but I am making progress) anyway, while I was reading
through it, I read the help file for the 8139 drivers, apparently there
was an update to that

Hello novarasari,
If you have I/O problem, is it ISA card? For PCI, IO is not
necessary.
BTW, what is actually your dhcpd.conf file? Post it for a check.

Well, mine was different, the kernel was not the correct one. I did have that
particular problem ("Looking for DHCP server" for ever) with an older
