formatting a long equation

Hi.. how do I get a long equation in a display environment to split itself into two lines or more as necessary.. attached is a lyx file with one such long equation that I'd like to have split.. I tried \sloppy in the preamble but it doesn't work.. probably cos the equation is in the display mode?

I have been using Lyx now for a few weeks, and I think it is a great tool. I do like the ability to enter raw LaTeX math, and have it converted to WYSIWYM (or not, depending on how good my LaTeX programming is that day...) with C-m. Does anyone know if there is a way to reverse this process
