Hi Sarah,
Control-F8 is very useful! I wonder if I'll ever remember all of these
different commands! By the time I do, we'll no doubt have moved on to some
entirely different operating system! LOL!

Hi Gordon,
Yes, I did that. Unfortunately, though Dropbox was on the extras menu, I
couldn't get to it. Apparently it must be accessed by the use of Mouse
Buttons, and another list member gave me a spot on explanation of how to
accomplish this!

Dear Phil,
Thank you so much for this fantastic explanation! I appreciate the time and
effort you put into it very much! I've been away all day, but wanted to let
you know as soon as I could, how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness! This
is extremely helpful!

Thanks Esther and Sarah - Not sure I want this side bar showing, just seems
to create more clutter, and doesn't offer anything that I can't get in other
ways -

I would imagine any music you buy from iTunes, will download to your music

Hi Andy,
The FInder preferences lets you select the items that will appear in the
sidebar if you choose to view it. They do not require the side bar to be
viewed. Try either using the keyboard shortcut Command+Option+S to toggle the
Finder sidebar between show and hide modes, or else navigate

Hi all -
When I look under kpreferences for Finder, I can select the side bar, and see
all the things that are checked to show up in there, but when I close
preferences, and open the finder and go in to users, for my files and folders,
I can't see the Side Bar. The top of the screen shows from
Agreed. I never ever used Gordon's method I just copied from the finder
manually and could build a playlist of books an and audio files in less then an
hour. Also, manually creating the playlist and copying from the library via the
context menu for me is a lot faster.
Takecare.

I actually use control f8 but that works, the problem is that dropbox changed
the way to get to said menu. You need to option click or if you have mouse keys
on option I.
Take care.

Carol - Where have you instructed the downloads to go?
Have you listened to the excellent podcasts on using Finder? They really
helped me understand where all my files and folders are -

It si totally possible. Jut hit chrim vox a, a to deactivate chromevox and away
you go. There is a list for discussing and emailing the devs about chrome vox
and they are pretty responsive. I posted the message about said list in the

Garage Band for the beginner is incredibly easy to use, in the basic form you
just press the record button and play your keyboard, even works the same way on
the iPhone.
As far as editing MIDI? I've not had a go at that with Garage Band yet but I'm

Is it possible to use the google Chrome browser using normal VO commands

Ah, thanks. I'm not the best keyboard player either, which is why I wanted a

Well all, I know we have garageband, and its cool and all, and I've tried to

is there a simpler way to create music for one that has a small, 49-key midi
keyboard? I mean, I'd rather work with something like lillypond,
I just tried option clicking on the dropbox extras menu item using mouse

I also have an iMac, but opted for a trackpad instead of the included mouse.
No problem though, use the mouse to do mouse clicking. Find out how to
connect it and how to use it for those times, like these, when you need to
physically click a mouse button instead of simulating one with VO.
Have you tried Google Chrome? It contains in-built Flash which should allow you
to play both live and catch up programming.
