Hello Marybeth, The TextDetective app should work with the iPod Touch, but the camera resolution on the iPod Touch models is not as good as for the iPhone, so OCR results will be better on the iPhone. If someone has a Retina iPad Mini I'd be curious to know how well it works with that device.
