Hi.
I'm trying to get my hands on some mini-CD-R's to make demos with ...

Retail is anywhere from 3-4 dollars per Disc.
Leda Distribution will sell them to me wholesale for $1.40 each, but
only in spindles of 100.

Its about double still, so NZ$60 for a 4mb stick that holds less than one

Easy solution --- *koff*koff* Don't use mp3's. =)

Is it just me or do I see a small jog dial on the left side of the unit(s)?!
It looks exactly the same as on their newer series of GSM phones (like
CMD-C1).
Can anyone confirm this?

the term balanced has nothing to do with stereo. Balanced has to
do with the sheilding on the cable to the mic. Get a balanded to
unbalanced transformer (in the miniplug configuration that you
want) and use that. that will give you the best possible sound
quality. you will not get stereo

OK, I can't read Japanese, but I think I can make out the following specs on
the R91 based on the tables in the web page link below:

Weight: 110g, 156g (AAs + NH-14 battery)

Hi All,
Long time no post :)
It does appear these units (Sony MZ-R90/R91) have a jog dial on the left
side (as per the sony mobile phones). My question is, what is the difference
(besides weight) between the two? I would have thought the R91 would be
better, but apparently not

You can use a special plastic/cardboard ring ("was" standard issue

sit inside. Unfortunately it's been

Hi Tony,
I just know you're going to get a dozen+ replies on this but briefly, cloning
[the UTOC- User Table of Contents] is a means of copying the track
information from one MD to another. From now on I'll drop the [U]TOC.
It's main use is in recovering deleted tracks, when a track is erased

Hello all,
I finally decided to blow some money by purchasing a portable recorder.
After reading up on all the good and bad on all of the lower-cost units,
I settled on this one. I've got it and I've been fooling with it for a
little while now and I think I'm gonna like it, especially if/when
That would require a firmware change to the CD-ROM drive. Their technique is
quite clever -- they're inserting CRC errors deliberately, which the
CD-ROM units will fix when the data is copied, rendering the copy
inaccurate and unusable.
The industry goal is to move the cost of cloning up,
Hi John,
Sony did develop DV but only after they signed up all the other camcorder
manufacturers, so although it was a totally new, (backward - incompatible)
format the future looked OK as all or most manufacturers were going with
