Not necessarily the neutral safety switch. There are two nylon bushings on which the shift lever pivots. If these have are no longer correctly seated, it will cause the same problem. I have the new bushings, but haven't gotten around to replacing them -- waiting for spring weather. On my 240D, sim

My experience with several W126s has been that you can replace the shocks sub frame and diff monuts all you want and you'll only add a few mm to the ride height. If she is really ridin low in the rear look to springs pads or the spings themselves. A quicker cheaper but not so elegant way of dealing
