As I mentioned before, everything you every wanted to know about Mac batteries
can be found in the support area at apple.com.
Resetting the PRAM and doing a "deep cycle" can sometimes reset the
microprocessor in the battery, but there are other things to try as well before
tossing in the towel

Common problem on a previously neglected Benz -- failure to replace
the rotors when they are too thin. On the W126 and prior chassis,
all the calipers have an anti-rattle spring on top, and when the
rotors are too thin and the pads are badly worn, the backing plate
will hit the spring. Th

Well after accepting defeat at trying to find a rear caliper locally on
a Sunday, I moved on to the fronts. BOTH calipers had rusted, siezed
inboard pistons. And looking at the front rotors they seem to be going
the way of the rears (look OK on the front side but badly rusted on the

Oreilley's has a epoxy/fiberglass patch kit. I used that one time,
and it is still holding. the key is roughing up the surface with the
sandpaper included in the kit. the blue gloves not in the kit are
good for keeping the stuff you your fingers.

I used a split boot on a Rabbit many years ago and would do so again if they
are available. Mine was still like new when I sold the car four years
later. It came with the boot, a tube of grease, a tube of glue and two
clamps, about $30 IIRC. The connection was tongue and grove with the glue.
I also noticed today that the rubber boots on the rear axle are looking
dry and have surface cracking. I don't think any of the cracks are all
the way through yet, I don't see any grease coming through.
Then leave them alone. They'll go for years looking that way.

to 'rebuilt' axles. If I remember there are some internal sections that
are case hardened, rebuilters remove that cast and failure is forcast.

I did do a tie rod job. Not sure if the parts were crap or I boogered
it up. They are going to have to be replaced because they are > failing.
If you tore the rubber, it's your fault. That's easy
to do if you're not careful.

I can see control arms if they got bent or otherwise
seriously damaged, but springs? That's a fair portion
