Glad to hear you got it resolved. This a.m. I drove my '95 E300 Diesel
to work for only about the 5th time after over a year of ownership. Now
that I've got the rear suspension mostly sorted out, the ride is very
pleasant, so I was reminiscing as I motored along, happy memories of

On my '95 E300, the AC starts out strong, but after about 20 minutes it
is noticeably weaker and eventually it fades completely away (goes from
very cold to cold to sort-of-cold to ambient). AC compressor clutch is
staying engaged.
Could this be a leaking monovalve insert? Next time I can play,

Could your temp sensor be monitoring the temperature under the dash, and
shutting down the A/C when it got to be cool and comfy under there?
Maybe a little smoke near the sensor intake grille to see if it gets sucked into
the grille?

Thanks Loren - I guess Brian's response gives the TS hint - reduced

least two prior repairs (I use the term loosely) were of such low

I would think a sticking expansion value could cause issues also. If you
aren't losing airflow you may not have a freezing evap. The expansion valve
can be replaced from under the hood.

Yes, good call. I was thinking that the relay would perhaps prevent it from
starting but should not cause the
problem we were having. Not sure but maybe the relay is shorted in such a way
that the power remains on when it
ought not to. IE - not just stuck contacts but bleeding power to a circuit
My guess is they use low voltage from the switch to actuate the starter
relay which then actuates the starter solenoid. If the inky dinky small
signal relay sticks, it keeps the solenoid engaged, and you have a dead
starter.
Probably was done for anti-theft systems/factory remote car starter
I would still do some checking with a meter on the relay inputs and
outputs to see what is happening with it/them, see if your ignition
starter switch position is sticking (which might just be energizing the
relay that is then sticking?). I don't know how that ignition starter
switch works,
Just thought of something.
My mom's 03 Impala will keep the starter engaged for a minimum amount of
time when you turn the key. You can hit it and release it in less than a
second and it'll keep it going till the engine starts.
Maybe the Nissan has the same I D 10 T proofing feature, thus
We did check the ignition switch function repeatedly. It never missed so far as
we could tell. I had a new ignition
switch to put in, but took it back as it is probably not the problem. Will put
the relays in tonight and keep my
fingers crossed that the problem is solved.
