Wouldn't a leak bleed down to zero though?
Not necessarily in the early stages. A slight tear can close up
at some pressures/positions. When they get worse it's a full-time
leak.

We purchased the '97 new. It's had 1 water pump, 2 idler pulleys/tensioners,
