It is so easy to check if the block heater works. Plug it in overnight. In the morning lift the nood and stick you bare hand on the head or block. If it is warmer than ambient, ut is working. If you feel metal the same temp as the fender, replace the cord and try again. Andrew Strasfogel

Trucks have APUs. My guess is either they plug in the the truck and that also powers the fuel heater(s) as well as the block heater; or the heaters run off battery power and the APU starts up every so often to recharge the batteries. Dunno, I've never been that close to them. The other thing

Well it’s now up to 17, I went out and checked the charger on the sdl and it said fully charger. I glowed it until the relay clicked off, cycled the key again then started cranking. A couple starting hitting, then more, and it fired to life with a huge cloud of smoke. Sent from my iPhone > On
