Weldments and threaded fasteners (nuts) were present in the cars since the
early 1960s. My 1962 300SE had the nuts in place with rubber plugs in them on

There is some rust through in the very front of the rockers where they face the
wheel well. Inside of the rockers is fine, jack points are good. I just need to
seal up the opening to prevent future corrosion, that’s all.
I’ll fog the inside of the rockers with something like bar oil or a rust
Mine was a later one and much less prone to the issues the 2000-2002 models
had, thankfully. It did have the air suspension, but that’s a known issue and a
one time fix. The engines are pretty bulletproof but the chassis’ have the
issues on these.

I’m not lurking on that FB group. I’m involved with too many online forums as
it is. I really despise FB, but there are a couple of groups I want to keep an
eye on, so I belong to them and that’s it. Someone in the W123 group sent me a
copy of the person’s “request for recommendation” looking
Exactly. And it’s “champagne “. I’ve never seen a 240D in that color.
He said he’ll pay to have someone check it out. I’m thinking $100?

That sure looks like an M127 to me, but I’ll defer to your knowledge. I didn’t
realize the M127 was FI only.
They did look very similar to each other

Take the box off and sit it in the ground to use for storage, like a shipping
container. Make a set of ramps for the frame and turn it into a car hauler.
You’re welcome.

This is NOT something you want to DIY. While you could rewire the harness,
there are interior bits you can’t fix if bad or questionable that a rebuilder
could/would.
I can dig up the info on the guy in AL. He sells on eBay, too. Really, really
good work, and quick turnaround, too. I’ve used
This involves sending it to the guy in Alabama that rebuilds them and spending
the $200 or so to make sure it’s 100%. It’s not a DIY repair.

Just went to send a link to their website to a coworker, and they’re gone!
Looks like they got absorbed by some big national chain.
Bummer.
I contacted the new guys to see if they still offer the service.
