I fully agree with you on that, however, my current situation is such that I am
living in an apartpit and don't have a place to work on the car.
Once this situation is resolved (September 16, to be exact) that will change.

It's a Ford marketing ploy to get you in and find other work to do. Nothing new
there.
My car is maintained well enough that they are usually hard pressed to find
anything wrong with it. In fact, since I used the same service writer, he

Yup. Motorcrap filter and their synthetic blend oil.
I look at it this way:
If I reverted back to Mobil1 and stock Motorcrap filters and did the deed
myself, it would cost me almost double what the stealership charges me to do it.
I have trained them to ignore the effort to upsell me, so since
Both my local dealers are $50/oil, if they don't also do the $40

Wow, I didn't know that Gump was a $120 car! 60K miles out of a $2K total
investment = double wow! That's way less than the average car payment for
average transportation, and a W115 is far from that, IMO. He served you
well indeed!

My trucks have all been $400 or less.
Trick is to get em when you know what's wrong with them, and the repair
costs are worth it.

My first MBZ was a $500 240d. I drove it 30k miles or so. Steve MacSween
put an engine in it an as far as I know is still driving it. There IS such
a thing as a cheap Mercedes if you aren't anal about perfection. I have put

Bought the '82 in '94 for $ 2,500. Huge investment.
1 motor (entirely my fault), 1 tranny + misc. repairs later (starter,
steering and suspension, A/C, etc.) I now have less than maybe $ 8,000 in
it.
That boils down to $ 500/year or 2 months worth of car payments/year for a
daily driver.

Well served. That is why I am able to reluctantly let her go. My PnP stash is
another $250 investment that should translate into good cash on sale. All I
need are buyers. I kaleb would come this way, he could have a containers worth

I would also add that other companies, such as Nissan, are not making things
easy, either. Try changing filters on an Altima sometime. If you don't get the
car in the air, the filter can only be reached by turning the wheels to the
left stop and reaching in through the right side wheel well.

I would not say that a system that requires the transmission to be
