If they are not hot, the ether will not be ignited by them. If tbey are hot, ether should not be needed. I only really used it in the 1963 190d when less than 10deg and nonsynthetic oil. The 85 has always fired off no matter the weather with a couple of glow cycles, but it always runs synthetic.
