I might point out, those dollars your friend paid for that gold is now
worth about 0.13 cents in real buying power. Adjusted against the dollars
buying power at the time of purchase.

BTW, due to the appreciating real estate market and the significant
improvements I made to the cabin using the scrounged/salvaged materials, I
was rewarded handsomely when we sold it in Aug '79. 'Even made it possible
for me to buy a new '80 MB 240D ($17.4k) in Nov '79. 'Been driving MB
Sunday evening I was scrounging / salvaging. I'd gotten a pallet of wood
flooring for our house and had a nice long pallet to dispose of. I spent
about an hour or so taking it all apart and removing all the nails so I
have three nice 2x4 pieces, each is at least six feet long. Daughter unit

We had many buildings on base that were built during WWII and were now
condemned, sold to salvagers or awaiting being burned by our fire department
for training exercises. I examined three of the buildings to be burned
