Ontario, there's no record of it up here and I didn't get anything
from its US owner.

That's not quite true anymore. I had run some carfaxes earlier this
year and
got back maintenance information entered by a mercedes dealer, with a
note from the
carfax folks saying this was a new offering. I'd doubt the local
grub & lube joints enter the data tho.

Carfax has nothing to do with service, it only is for registration,
accident reports etc.
