Observed Monday morning on Pickeral Lake in Mendota Heights. (Lillydale Park
area) A lone bird with a few Canada Geese, but always stayed on far side of
lake, so at least 100 yards away. Have some photos, so strongly confirmed that
the bird was a Ross’s Goose.

recollection is
that MOU and Audubon Minnesota together had a booth in the Education Building
prior to moving the DNR building, I remember staffing that booth. Our hope is
that someone out there in the birding community remembers.

fifteen minutes after sunrise the last of the observed robins left. On leaving
the birds did not first perch in a surrounding deciduous tree, they just flew
directly away.

Today (Friday) I observed up to seven Yellow-rumped Warblers on one suet cage,
not all could extract food at the same time. Possibly the cold weather has made
it difficult to retrieve enough insects.

I know you are seeing many juncos and today at Carpenter Nature Center we
banded 72 of them and that was a fraction of the population. No nets, all
caught in potter's traps.

Yesterday morning (Friday the 16th) we banded 74 birds at Carpenter Nature
Center. 46 were Dark-eyed Juncos and 14 were American Tree Sparrows. I figured
they had been down in Iowa and are on their way to the far north.

The Long-tailed Duck has returned to Point Douglas Beach off Hwy 10 before the
bridge to Prescott, WI. It was present at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Also present one

Last Friday (Aug. 5) we banded a hatching year Palm Warbler at Carpenter Nature
Center. It is either an early migrant or from parents that nested below their
known breeding area.
We have no records of observing Palm Warblers at the Nature Center this summer.

Friday morning, June 2. Location is =
in the cemetary in the middle of the section. Take the field road across =
from the entrance to Carpenter Nature Center, the road ends in the =
cemetary. Both were singing, only 40 yards apart. A Willow Flycatcher =
also singing in the area.=20
