On Saturday at 7AM 75 hearty birders were waiting at the Marietta American
Legion to begin the 37th annual Salt Lake bird count. 128 different species
were found in Lac Qui Parle and Big Stone counties under cloudy and windy
conditions. An additional 5 species were found on Friday and Sunday.
Western Minnesota weather is rapidly improving and every thing is set for the
38th annual Salt Lake Bird Count. Free camping is still available at Prairie

This years Salt Lake Birding Weekend had possibly the best weather experienced
for this event. Clear skies with temperatures in the upper 70's but few wood
ticks or mosquitos. On Saturday over 80 birders surveyed Lac qui Parle County
