If you want an outstanding clock to put some in, the Omninixie from YanZeyuan
is one of the clocks that has a version for the 5441/A. It's really nice!

That last lot of 5441A were really used and some of them were really darkened.
Probably came out of old test equipment that already had 10 or more years
displaying the same numbers...

It's the "A" designation that makes them more rare and valuable. Over the last
year, the 5441A round top versions have gone for $45-$60. The plain 5441s with
the evacuation nipple on top are $10-$15. If you really have a bunch of 5441A
tubes, you might discover that they will bring a nice pri

Normally, we see 7971's wrapped up in old newspapers or shipped in the
Ultronics boards that have been sitting around for the last 50 years. It
is cool to see photos of the tubes in carriers that look more like what
would have been expected for bulk shipme
Latest auction for B7971's went for $125ea. That seems to a reasonable price
and auction based on the last five years. Paying $250-$300 each really screws
up the market for hobbyists. There still seems to be a supply of 7971's out
there... Jeff

There was an auction awhile back for a MOD-SIX with tubes that was the same
price range as these 7971's by themselves... Jeff

I have some 7971's available at that price. No bidding necessary. Really.
You can pick your date codes and construction type.

The 5971's do seem pricey, but as we have learned, some buyers may be willing
to greatly overpay.

Note that the auction from the newest seller is using the same photos and
has the same bidders in common...

I had some 7971's from the late 60's from Poly Packs, back when the "ebay"
of the day was the back pages of camera and electronics magazines. Yep, I
wish that I had bought a bunch. Who knew?
In the case of the auction that was originally mentioned on eBay, I agree
with a previous comment that
starves the other segments
of HV. Very odd failure mechanism when it seems to work and then fails. Try
all segments on to see if you can reproduce the failure and then switch the
segments on at a time. Your clock has this tube segment test mode.

I’d love to build one of these… The 7971’s need a good home!
