I'm using Mandrake 7.2, which came with the 2.2.17 kernel.
I ran the Updates program and found that there was an available
kernel update. Unfortunately, I told it to install said update. Now
my system won't boot.
I see in the list archive that someone has indicated that there's a

Hi all!
DAP (Download Accelerator Plus) works fine under LM 7.2+Wine-Codeweavers. I
just get to restart a download started under windoze-me.

hi, don't know about the first question but as to your Xfree question, with 7.2 (i
have only done the expert mode install -- so i don't know if you can get this option
with other installs) you can use either vesion 3.x.x (don't recall the exact, but i
believe it's the same as 7.1) or version
Do you have scsi-emulation enabled ? Pass the option hdx=ide-scsi to the
kernel at boot (through lilo or grub), where x is the "hd" number (a = first
primary, b = first secondary, c = second primary etc.)
Try "cdrecord -scanbus" to see if the recorder is recognized.

Hello,
I am trying to set up a Linux machine to be part of a Windows NT domain. The
first (of many) problem I am having is connecting to the Internet. In
Windows 98, the browser can be configured to use the proxy server we have
(10.0.0.2:80). If I do this in Netscape under Linux, however, it
I'm trying to telnet into a box running LM 7.2 but it keeps telling me
"connection closed by foreign host". What is causing LM 7.2 to do this?
I've looked at hosts.allow and hosts.deny to no avail.
Thanks,

This was something that somebody mentioned a day or two ago. You may have
telnet disabled. When installing ssh it automatically disables telnet because
it's not secure.
You also may not have the telnet-server installed, which would then not let
anybody telnet in.

I had performance problems earlier this year when I had 64MB RAM. Upgrading
it to 192MB made a *big* difference. Your system should run fine after the
upgrade.
Your swap looks fine. You shouldn't ever need more than this, unless you're
running something *really* memory hungry like a VMware

The LAN card issue has been a common problem, though it didn't strike
me. And you are correct that LILO is using an ANSI graphics menu
system. 'man lilo' and 'man lilo.conf' didn't get me anywhere as to why
it now does this and how to suppress it.
