someone asked me to let them know how the smp kernel was running for
me. Well all I can say is it was not good for me. 75% of the time

Wow. I'm running the SMP kernel on my 2.8GHz P4 laptop and it works great.
I don't have much experience with it so far, but I haven't had a
single problem with it. You should be able to install the single proc
kernel even on a multi-threaded machine though.

I have an IBM PC Server 330 with 2 Pentium Pro 200 processors. I installed
Mandrake 7.2 on this machine initially, and showed two processors on bootup.
I reinstalled to get raid1 working, and I must have done something different

I hear that a lot, that its supposed to auto-detect for SMP - but in my
case, it never hashuh. Dunno if its my hardware, other operating
systems such as BeOS and Winblows NT detect both CPUs without a hitch. Ah

I have just recently upgraded to a BP6 Motherboard and installed
Mandrake 7.0, followed the instructions at this web site:

under the 'ULTRA66' section, installed without a hitch on a drive
connected to the UDMA/66, no problem :)
