hey flux, why not use an ntfs partitions for the win system, you will be able to mount it read only noproblem in linux, and use a shared fat partition if you want to write stuff to a place that win can see, for all the problems that win is accused of having ntfs is definitely a more secure

Flux, My only comment on your predicument is that I can't see why you are downgrading to Win 98 SE? Did you have a problem with Win 2K that makes you want to go to a less robust and older version? Win 2K can be reloaded with a FAT32 partition instead of NTFS. As long as you own the 'better'

I haven't done this lately, but I believe that when you originally installed W98 it asks you if you want to create a W98 boot floppy (in case you run into problems later, etc.). If you did that, you can boot from the floppy, then run fdisk to wipe the disk and create partitions before doing the
