Well, if I remember correctly, you need to get egcs and upgrade your ppp to 2.4. Then fix your path in mandrake_everytime to point to the new supermount directory before you reboot. But other than that, it was painless. -s On Tuesday 14 August 2001 03:03 pm, you wrote: Hello, I have

Adam, I just downloaded the new Kernel RPM's from a Mandrake FTP site. I was running kernel 2.2.15 (smp version). I downloaded 2.2.16, installed the rpm's just like any other rpm, rebooted, and that was it. Regards, Tyler - Original Message - From: "Adam Stark" [EMAIL PROTECTED] To:

Dunno. Upgrading my kernel last night broke my sound support so I'll hafta figure out why and fix it. Something about soundcore not existing. I guess it's trying to use ALSA. Blah. *^*^*^* Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sungod robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked

Yes, as a matter of fact not long after I installed Mandrake 7.1 (I migrated to Mandrake from RedHat) I noticed there was an update utility. I had also heard there was something wrong with the kernel that shipped with 7.1, so I ran the update utility. For some reason it didn't work the fist time.

Mark, you have a good point about LILO. I will try installing LILO and then upgrading. Do you know whether LILO will take over nicely from Grub if I just run LILO? After I switch to LILO, I shall try the upgrade again. Just out of curiousity, did you try the xemacs upgrades from MandrakeUpdate?

Al, No, I didn't try the Emacs upgrade. I don't use emacs. In fact since I've learned VI and MC and don't really have a need for emacs at all. As far as LILO taking over for grub if I were going to do something like this the first thing I would do is remove grub from, I'm assuming it installed
