Is this a Canadian '84 750S or a' 94 750, if it's an 84 that cluster comes apart with a few screws and you can get to the tach pretty easily. Before tearing the gauge cluster apart I'd look for a loose connection or corroded ground. Swing the front fairing open and while the bike is running jiggle

The earlier Nighthawk 250s were sealed beam and later ones H3. They can be converted as well (my '95 CB250 was converted to the H3 headlight by a previous owner). Not sure if there's a point to waterproofing the front of the headlight when you've got that huge hole for the wires in back...

Pros and cons list anyone? I can think of a few on both side. Personally I prefer to keep a cushion between me and the car ahead and will stay on one side of the lane to allow me an escape route in case I need it. This of course requires a lot of mirror looking, and sometimes that's tough.

I lived in Japan for a long time. In Tokyo, all bikes go to the front under the traffic light, either along the curb or down the middle. It's standard operating procedure, and everyone accepts and expects it. It wasn't easy to keep behind the cages for me when I first moved back here, though
