the Service Manual for the proper method of determining stretch. Many
will call for a measurement between 20 consecutive rivets and if your

On extremely expensive aircraft windscreens, I ;earned years ago to
use my bare hand and soapy water then dry with a microfiber or clean
terry cloth towel. That combination will never scratch the windscreen.

The ride on your SV should be no problem at all. As with ANY riding,
stay hydrated. I travel with a Camelbak and am able to drink from that
while riding even with my full face Arai. I have an SV set up
specifically for solo touring and have done a lot of long range runs.

The clamping type cruise control is called a Vista Cruise and it will
fit on the older bikes. I have one on my '83 650 Nighthawk now and had
one on the '83 650 back when it was new. They work well to give you
that little break on those long runs. I use one on my current Sport/
Tour as well. Helps

Downshifting through the gears as a tool for slowing during an
EMERGENCY STOP will get you dead. It takes way to much time, will load
the rear wheel causing loss of rear wheel traction which means the
likelyhood of a high side, low side, and a general loss of directional

Modern synthetics and non-syn oils are totally interchangeable. You
can add one to the other with no issue. Why you would do that is the
question. Synth offers much better barrier protection for start up and
you will have the advantage of extended changes. Just DON'T use a

I've run with a suction cup mount on my 650 when I had a Street Scene
windscreen and it worked very well but I always had a lanyard attached
so if it came off, the GPS was not lost or worse yet, it wouldn't end
up in a place that would lock my steering or effect the controls.

service and delivery times is typically atrocious. Unless they have a

Holy Moly, get some advice on that option before taking it. Have a
locksmith pick it or something. I'm not well-versed in tank locks but
that's the only mechanism that keeps your tank closed. The key for the
ignition is the same key that opens the tank unles

Sorry, but it makes me ill to see one of these rare machines in that
condition. One more reason for me to find a 550 museum piece and park
it next to my 650 for posterity.
If you give up on it, please make sure the parts get circulated to
those that need them for restoration.
My wife and I ride 2up pretty frequently on my '83 650. Never a
problem, the bike handles it. Just make sure your familiar with the
handling and stopping chractoristics of the bike while 2up. I crank
the preload on the rear shocks up to max and also set the ride setting

None of these factory seats are conducive to longer rides for the
average ass. A week after I bought my SV650 I replaced the soft OEM
seat with a custom Sargent Seat. I couldn't ride more than 20 minutes
with the OEM, now it hours
Can't speak to the CB1100 issue but as for your turn signals, that is
precisely how my relay died. I believe those relays are thermally
actuated and that's why it needed to run for about 10-15 minutes
before it would functionthen eventually not at all. I bought a new

Those are TourMaster Cortech Sport Saddle Bags in the Tri-Bag
configuration. I capture the 2 saddlebags under the seat and the the
tailbag just buckles into the 2 saddlebags.
I run them on the Nighthawk occassionaly and switch them over to my
Suzuki Sport Bike as well.
