They aren't very heavy lubricants, no. They're mostly designed for use in
it's rust penetrant function. The solvent carries in the lubricants, does
it's thing on the rust there, and when it evaporates away you have a very
thin film of lubricant where the solvent was. This helps you break the part

Yes, looking for correct/stock restoration of the Black Chrome;
nothing else even comes close. I have been in the classic car
restoration thing for over 30 years, and there is no paint that is
gloss black, and will stand the heat of the header part of the
exhaust. ALL 1200
Just as an FYI, there are two brands that make high temp (1400+) primers.
VHT is one, though it isn't commonly sold in stores you can order it.

I would suggest high temp black paint used in the automotive industry.
It's application is specifically for parts that get over 1200 degrees.
You can buy it in any parts store. I would try it on some scrap part
first and see if the color is right. If not, look for another brand or

I've used to different brands of high heat paint on exhausts. Some
work really well, others not so well. Joe, I know, would rather not
use paint. He's a purest when it comes to his 700S's, right Joe? I
would rather try and restore the black chrome but if I can't I'll

Graham, do you remember the names of any of the good brands? We painted the
exhaust on the Suzuki, I don't if it was the primer or the paint, but it
