Depends on whether you want to take photos or not. The main advantage I see for the DSLR (when shooting as a guest) is the flash doesn't turn on automatically as it does with many P&S cameras. That could be a factor in some church weddings where they don't allow flash during the ceremony. Fr

Christine, I always take my camera and shoot photos. I stay out of the hired photographer's way and often shoot from the pews or background. I usually put the best shots up on Picasa and send the link to the bride and groom. Mothers of the B&G often love the quick feedback. Regards, Bob S. On Wed

You could always side step the whole issue by getting one of these, a Leica D Vario-Elmar 14-150mm f/3.5-5.6 Asph. OIS. Then you'd be spending maybe 10-20 times the money for a lens than you had on the body, but you'd probably never need another lens, though you would need a 4:3 to m4:3 adapte
