Use a tripod, pre-focus use a remote release. Put the camera in burst
mode so it takes a whole lot of photos every time you pull the trigger.
That way you can get a whole lot of photos of hummingbird butts.

In another venue, posterization has been under discussion. I can see two
possible ways of dealing with it.

behavior. I found that the best way to get a good shot is to know where they
are going to come and sit in wait. We were in Golden Gate Park in San
Francisco and there is a certain type of flower that replenishes nectar
Well I rather like this one. I have always wanted to get a shot of golden
fields like that. Either I don't come across them or when I rarely do, I am in
no position to capture it (no camera, wrong time of day, wrong weather, etc.)
