I have a 2011 i think, iMac that started out with 500 gig of space and is now down to 230. ITs mostly due to digital photo files. I have a time machine external plus i back up on 2 other externals. I guess it depends on whether the lens in question is a co-design between Pentax & Tamron or just a rebadged Tamron lens. If memory serves there was a 12-24 zoom that Pentax co-designed with Tokina several years back (pre-Hoya) that was available in Nikon/Canon mount from Tokina, but not in Penta

Dave, My "photo computer" is a 5-year-old Mac mini running Lightroom 4. All of my photos are on a 1T Firewire 800 external hard drive, which is now a little under 3/4 full. The internal HD has the catalog files and serves as the "scratch disk". It doesn't work with lightning speed, but it's fast

Wow, Darren, I am impressed: You gave a credit to my almost-1-year-old message! I suspect it is a combination of the facts that it is a FF lens and that it is a fast lens in the focal range < 16 mm, that drive the price up. Both factors make it more complex from the engineering point of view
