Publications should always provide a photo credit.
I would try to find out how the paper got the photo—and I don’t see any problem
in politely asking for a photo credit. The online version can easily do an
article/photo update to the piece—they do it all the time.

Yes, it looks like the first car with CVT was made in 1896 by Milton
Reeves. I am not sure if it would be considered a "luxury" one or not.

Not really. The hoopoe did actually find a larva but I missed the shot. The
problem is the drought & we may only water gardens 2hrs/week. The coastal
grass in the photo just dies off & has to be replanted. The underground
stolons of the cynodon grasses survive & come to life in the next rainy
