If you can live with manual focus, the tokina at-x 100-300/4
lens is outstanding and there is an A version of it. FF too.

there were two versions of the tamron 90/2.5 macro adaptall lens.
do they both have this problem? (same optical design on the rear element?)

if you just want to do 8.5x11 prints you can buy
a really decent photo printer for only $100 or so. Paper
and ink will be an ongoing expense however.

out an inferior print if I can offer the purchaser a better value --
even if it causes me some extra expense.
Do you suppose it would be worth the trouble to bother getting decent
paper for it?

If youre going to use a third party for prints, I would
recommend you NOT direct ship the prints, you will need to
quality control them yourself before giving to a client.

If they come up with a BW only sensor it would have to be
panchromatic characteristic or the whole thing is pointless.

YES, If it were Pentax FF and ultra high resolution,
like 40 real Mpixel, I'd consider one. Especially if
it was low noise at high ISOs.

yeah, but what if you get other bonus stuff in exchange for a BW
only sensor like higher resolution, and better sensitivity, or much lower
cost?
If all you got extra with a BW sensor is lack of color of course nobody
would want it.

Over 20 years ago, I once bought about 90 rolls of K64 marked down to
$0.10/roll.
Took me 10 years to shoot it all (freezer stored) . Loved that film and my
pro
Kodak carousel projector at the time. Wasn't scanning at the time or
it may have been much less fun.

I have had my Pentax DSLR for 5 years now and only
shot one roll of film since buying it. I am wondering
if anyone is still using 35mm film regularly?

FWIW, the one roll I did shoot and scan was TMAX100
and the sharpness was impressive but even this fine
grained BW 100 speed film showed grain noisier than iso
200 images from my *istDS.

nope, its just a very early very wide very bad design
by pentax
I forgot to mention I preferred the early version with
49mm filter threads due to better build quality. It's built like
a precision tank. The later version with 55mm threads is more
plastic feeling and lighter.
